Solo Cycling in the 2020 Ride…
Cancer has affected us all in one form or another, and this is why we ride. From Monday June 22nd through Sunday June 28th, you can join us in raising funds to support cancer care at The Moncton Hospital.
For 5 years this physician-led bicycle trek has inspired thousands to rally together either by cycling, sponsoring, or donating. This year, the COVID19 pandemic means that some things have changed… and yet, some things remain the same…
Cancer has not stopped during COVID19.
What has changed for this year’s ride is that we will be solo cycling, meaning that we will participate on our own time in our own way, and not within a group. At the time of this writing, social distancing remains critical to ensure that we all help flatten the curve.
There is no way to predict when we will no longer be required to practice social distancing, so the 2020 NB Doctors Cycling Against Cancer ride will also change to ensure that the ride proceeds.
What remains the same is the necessity to provide cancer diagnosis and treatment. Procedures at The Moncton Hospital have been modified to address COVID19 guidelines so that healthcare for cancer patients can continue. The inpatient unit and the clinic have continued to operate, and the need to raise funds to enhance cancer care at The Moncton Hospital also continues.
Your registration link is coming up, but first read on about what you need to know…
What is “solo cycling”? It is literally cycling solo, or alone, rather than cycling in a group.
When do I have to ride my bike? When it suits you. Morning, noon, night – it’s up to you. However, we are asking participants to cycle during the week of June 22nd through June 28th.
How far do I have to ride? You set your own goal. How many kilometres you can comfortably commit to cycling during the week is something you decide.
How much money do I need to raise? Again, up to you. How much money do you think you can raise? You set the fundraising goal.
Do I have to register? Yes. The registration link is provided below. You complete your contact information, set your distance and fundraising goals and share a little about yourself. You can upload a picture as well.
What happens after I register? Your very own fundraising page is created which you can share within your networks. You can use email, social media… whichever way you like. You will receive a link in an email and you will be listed as a cyclist on the How to Give/Support a Cyclist page of this website.
What happens when someone donates online? The amount is instantly added to your fundraising total and your fundraising page will show how much you have raised. You will receive an email to let you know that a donation has been made and the donor will receive a thank you email with the charitable receipt attached.
What is expected of me once I register? Share the news that you have joined the ride and during the week of the ride starting June 22nd, share your story. There are several ways to share your story. Check out some options on our FUNdraising Tips & Tools page.
However you choose to support the ride this year, thank you for dedicating your time, energy and spirit to an epic event to remember.
